Guide for adSense Settings

There are several types of AdSense auto ads grouped into different display format categories. Some of these ad types are:

  1. Intent-driven format: Ad intents
  2. Overlay formats: Anchor ads
  3. Overlay formats: Side on rail ads
  4. Overlay formats: Vignette
  5. In-page formats: Banner
  6. In-page formats: Multiplex
  7. In-page formats: Related search

Among these types, some may not be recommended or even not supported by the NEOS theme:

  1. Anchor ads
These are ads displayed at the top or bottom of the page. These ads are not recommended if you enable the sticky_header configuration in General Configs. This is because the ads will cover the blog header.

  2. Side on rail ads - (Not supported)
These are overlay ads displayed on the side of the page content. The AdSense system will automatically place them by injecting the ad's HTML code into the blog's HTML. This type of ad is not supported by the theme as it can break the layout.

  3. In-page formats
These ads are automatically placed by the AdSense system in locations it deems most profitable. In many cases (not just for the NEOS theme), the chosen placements may disrupt the blog layout.

It is highly recommended to disable this ad type. You can use the Ad In Post widget to display ads within posts to get better control of placement configurations.

Disabling the Side on Rail Auto Ad Type
  1. In the AdSense Dashboard, go to the Ads menu: By site.
  2. Click edit on the blog list - (View).
  3. In the Overlay formats section, disable Side on rail - (View).
  4. Save/Apply the changes.
